PM rejects FO summary over Jehanzeb Khan’s appointment as Ambassador to France
ISLAMABAD: reliable sources have informed Online that PM, Yousuf Raza Gilani has rejected FO's summary over the appointment of Jehanzeb Khan as ambassador to France.
There has been strong resentment and concern among the well-established group in FO, who strongly opposed this appointment of Jehanzeb Khan, who is known for his strong links with brother of French President Nicholas Sarkozy.
He has also held the position of commercial attaché in the Pakistani Embassy in Paris, while President Zardari had selected him specifically for the job.
Since he belonged from the DMG (District Management Group), many cadres of the Foreign services group, and ambassadors and commissioners posted abroad had raised pertinent questions regarding this appointment.
A petition challenging the appointment had also been filed in the IHC (Islamabad High Court), after which PM, Yousuf Raza Gilani thoroughly reviewed the issue, and finally rejected the Foreign Office summary, which favored the appointment of Jehanzeb Khan 's ambassadorship to France.
