7 Steps for Earning Your First Million Dollars

Image
Do you remember hearing your family talk about money as a child? Growing up on welfare in New York City, I remember my family talking about getting rich. It seemed like everyone wanted to be a millionaire, but neither would admit it. They would talk about traveling the world, eating the finest food, and even gallantly arriving to the Oscars in the most luxurious clothing. Soon enough, the conversation would come to a brief halt and the leader of the discussion would sharply castigate the dreamers, leading to an immediate silence. Within the same awkward minute, the wiser members of my family would nervously giggle, and then gasp in my direction, "Don't worry Daniel, when you go to college and get a job, you can bail us out." Most people want to become millionaires, but like my family, they are put down because their goal is too 'unrealistic'. They're taught to conform to the patterns of former genera...

Stanford's Highest Paid MBA This Year: $522K

Image
November 14, 2013 A graduating MBA student in Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business this year nailed down a private equity job in the northeast with a total compensation package north of half a million dollars. This year’s highest paid Stanford MBA, who had a business undergraduate degree and three to five years of work experience before getting a graduate degree, reported receiving a guaranteed annual bonus of $337,500–a sum that does not even include potential tuition reimbursement, relocation expenses, auto allowances, profit sharing, stock or stock options. If that student received the median base salary in private equity of $150,000 along with the median signing bonus of $35,000, the person’s total first-year compensation would be a minimum of $522,500. The numbers are disclosed in Stanford’s recently published employment report for the Class of 2013. All told, Stanford MBAs reported median base salaries of $125,000–exactly the same as last year. But median...

$2,000 for a Dead Afghan Child

$100,000 for Any American Who Died Killing it. By Jay Janson June 30, 2009 " Opednews " -- -A fter Obama apologized for the strike which the Afghan government claimed killed well over a hundred ordinary country folk, came the report that the families of those killed, and subsequent Afghani dead falling in harms way of the US military, continuing as before, can apply to receive up to $2,000 compensation. This is the price the great United States of American puts on an Afghan or Pakistan human being, while awarding $100,000 to families of Americans who die while fighting and killing wherever. Shocking? Shame provoking? Embarrassing that no Afghani or Pakistani child or parent has any human right at all, including the right not to be blown to pieces in a US drone air strike? - the final insult being the value of their lives put at a mere $2,000 by the wealthiest nation in history? Naw, not within the general public, which more or less accepts this assessment of a well-liked Comm...
