VIDEO: Poetic prayer makes Erdoğan couple shed tears in Albania

Image
TIRANA DHA Photo Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan shed tears on May 13 while a student recited a patriotic, Islamic-toned poem that Erdoğan had recently read on television. Erdoğan was in the Preza village near the Albanian capital Tirana to inaugurate a mosque during his official visit to the Balkan country.  During the ceremony, which turned into a political rally with more than 8,000 attendees, a student of a Turkish religious vocational imam-hatip school recited “Dua” (Prayer), a poem by Turkish nationalist poet Arif Nihat Asya, who passed away in 1975. The Erdoğan couple could not stop their tears while the student read the poem. Erdoğan himself had  read the poem last month  in a television commercial filmed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Turkish victory in the Gallipoli campaign during World War I.  The choice of the poem and the way that it was repeatedly broadcast by many Turkish TV channels had stirred a p...

VIDEO: Toyota Corolla Fielder hacked via smartphone

Image
By Jonathan Lee / 17 December 2015   An associate professor at the Hiroshima City University’s Graduate School of Information Sciences has managed to hack into a 2013 Toyota Corolla Fielder Hybrid and control certain functions of the car remotely, exposing a potential security flaw in vehicles connected to the Internet, according to Kyodo News . Hiroyuki Inoue managed to open and close the windows, manipulate the speedometer to show an incorrect reading and disable the accelerator all through a smartphone and a WiFi device constructed from 10,000 yen (RM350) worth of commercially-available parts, the latter plugged into the car’s OBD-II diagnostics port. This gave him access to unencrypted data inside the car’s computer, which controls engine, braking and other functions, although he still was not able to start the engine or turn the steering wheel. Despite this, Inoue was able to move the speedometer to the maximum 180 km/h mark even when the car was stat...

Google Unveils Project Wing Air Drone Delivery System (Video)

by: Joseph On  Friday, August 29, 2014 Tags:   Air Drone Delivery     Google     Project Wing    In case you thought  Amazon  was alone in working on a system for automated high-speed air delivery,  Google recently unveiled Project Wing, their own entry into the field. Unlike Amazon’s automated delivery service, Google’s Project Wing was developed mostly with emergency supplies (like food, water, or medicine) in mind. In fact, the project originated as a way to get emergency defibrillators to heart attack sufferers on short notice, before this avenue was abandoned due to complications involving 9-1-1 and other public emergency services. Now, the sky is basically the limit on what Google plans to do with Project Wing, but whatever it is will have to go through a lengthy legal process given the current amount of regulation on United States skies currently on the books. But if any company could ever get around o...

The terrifying see-through path stuck to a Chinese cliff-face 4,000ft above a rocky ravine

Image
Don't look down!  By STEPHANIE DARRALL, November 2011 I t is certainly not a path for the faint-hearted. On one side a sheer rock face, on the other a 4,000ft drop - and all to separate the brave traveller from a deadly plunge is a 3ft-wide, 2.5in thick walkway. And if that is not enough to bring terror into the pit of your stomach, the path running alongside a Chinese mountainside is made out of glass, allowing a crystal-clear view of where one false step can take you. So it was perhaps understandable that this woman tackled the walkway by sticking as close to the cliff as possible, feeling her way along with tentative steps. Don't look down: A brave tourist walks along the glass path that was built of the side of a cliff 4,700ft above sea level on Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, China Dazzling: A glass path suspended on a cliff face has been built on the side of the Tianmen Mountain in China The skywalk  is situated 4,700ft abov...
