Nurse Reveals the Top Five Regrets People Make on their Deathbed

Image
By   Bronnie Ware Wake Up World For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who  had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared.  I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their  lives. People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality. I learnt never to underestimate someone’s capacity for growth. Some  changes were phenomenal. Each experienced a variety of emotions, as  expected, denial, fear, anger, remorse, more denial and eventually  acceptance. Every single patient found their peace before they  departed though, every one of them. When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would  do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the  most common five: 1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the  life others expected of me. This was the most common regret of all. When people realize that...

The Middle East Problem

IS IT THAT SIMPLE TO EXPLAIN, OR, JUST ONE SIDE OF THE STORY The Middle East conflict is framed as one of the most complex problems in the world. But, in reality, it's very simple. Israelis want to live in peace and are willing to accept a neighboring Palestinian state. And most Palestinians do not want Israel to exist. As Dennis Prager explains, this is really all you need to know. In 5 minutes, understand how Israel was founded, and how, since that auspicious day in 1948, its neighbors have tried to destroy it, again and again When I did my graduate studies at the Middle East Institute at Columbia University’s School of International Affairs, I took many courses on the question of the Middle East conflict. Semester after semester, we studied the Middle East conflict as if it was the most complex conflict in the world – when in fact, it is probably the easiest conflict in the world to explain. It may be the hardest to solve, but it is the easiest to explain.  In a nutshell, i...

Altaf Hussain...

Godfather of Karachi, resident of Edgware This entry was posted on May 14, 2013, in  Pakistan Yesterday I called upon the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police to arrest a British citizen for incitement to murder. It is an open and shut case. You can watch his lips move on television, broadcast from London, in the wake of the controversial election count in the giant port city of Karachi, Pakistan. Hussain openly threatened the young democracy protesters agitating for a re-run of the election there that he would have them cut them down with swords. No-one should think this mere rhetoric, Hussain is already convicted in Pakistan for multiple murder extortion organised crime and terrorist offences. That’s why he lives in Edgware. In fact he is chief suspect in over 100 murder cases, including in England in the murder of one of his own leading comrades. Five years ago I gave a  speech in Parliament  asking why the then New Labour government was not o...

Death Will Overtake You Even in a Strong Fortress

Death Will Overtake You Even in a Strong Fortress Quran 4: 78 "Wheresoever you may be, death will overtake you even if you are in fortresses built up strong and high!" Quran 4:78 All of us, regardless of race, color, religion or nationality, want to know the answer to this question: "What will happen to me when I die?" The Holy Quran is the actual speech of God Almighty to the Last of the Prophets (Muhammad, peace be upon him). As such it provides us with the real insight of life and death from the very One who did create all of us in the first place. The following commentary concerns a verse in the fourth chapter of the Quran, entitled "The Women", verse number 78. We begin with hadeeth (preserved sayings from the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) It is reported from A Bara bin Azib who said: "We went out with the Prophet in order to participate in the funeral rites of a man from the Ansar. We arrived at the grave, but the inner ...

Ethos of Death

Israel's military has bombed whatever stands, lives and moves in Gaza, including the UN facilities and aid. No other state in the world has behaved, without facing dire diplomatic consequences, in such a way. The Israeli state which, although located in the Middle East, claims a 'western' civilizational link and heritage has surely fallen short of it. The Israeli government has failed totally in its actions: Hamas is still able to rocket blast South (and possibly North ) Israel, the Israeli military actions have killed 130 'militants' sacrificing about 630 civilians, it has prevented the rescue of the injured, causing the Red Cross to condemn the actions , and has attacked UN convoys (a "deja vu" since the Israeli army has a certain preference for "mistakenly" bombing the UN). Among the disturbing facts of the Israeli Kadima government is that 257 children have been killed and 1,080 wounded . It is a massacre, and one which only one 'de...
