Prerequisites

  • Make sure that your phone has more than 80% of the remaining battery level. This will ensure that your phone doesn’t get into risk during the process.
  • Download HTC Sync and install it on your computer.
  • Download Unlocked Bootloader from the HTC Website.
  1. Download SuperUser Zip Package
  2. Download Recovery Image

Install Custom Recovery on HTC Explorer

  • After downloading, move all the files to your desktop
  • Extract files from the Recovery Image.
  • Turn OFF your HTC Explorer and reboot it into bootloader mode. You can do this by pressing and hold the Volume Down and Power Button.
  • From the menu on the screen, choose Fastboot.
  • Now, connect your phone to the computer using the USB cable.
  • From the extracted files, run (double-click)  recovery.bat to begin the process.
  • After the custom recovery is installed on your phone, unplug the phone from the computer.
  • You’ve successfully installed custom recovery on your phone. Reboot the phone to complete the process.

Root HTC Explorer

  • Connect your phone again to the computer using the USB cable.
  • From the files you’ve downloaded to your computer, find Superuser Zip and copy the file to your phone’s SD card storage’s root folder.
  • After it is copied, disconnect the phone.
  • Reboot again into bootloader mode, which can be achieved by pressing and holding Volume Down and Power Buttons together.
  • Now, select Recovery.
  • From the menu, choose Install .zip from SD card.
  • Once the installation process is over, reboot your phone.

HTC Explorer is a great budget android phone. Equipped with a lot of candy features, not to mention the Sense 3.5 UI. If you want to select your first android touch phone and budget tight then,need not consider any other but the explorer itself. Superb first android phone.It is powered by a 600MHz processor ,Adreno 200 GPU, 3.2MP camera (no flash) and many more. So this cute little phone has a little bad side-a low 90MB linternal memory. it has some pre-installed apps that cannot be removed. How to remove them?
Rooting is the only way. Let's see how to root it. Its fast and simple-yet effective.

Rooting:

Follow these steps carefully---
  • First thing you have to do is install HTC sync on your PC 
It can be downloaded from HTC site. This will help to communicate between PC and Device

  • Next you have to unlock your phone's bootloader 
 ( Go to htcdev.com. From Bootloader section select your device. But HTC explorer isnt listed on the site. No need to worry. Just select "All Supported Models", and follow the steps.)

  • Now 'ADD A RECOVERY' - 
That will allow you to install .zip ROMs. You can access to it in the menu android phones have when booting the phone after removing-inserting the battery and pressing "volume down" and "power" buttons simultaneously. (Other phones have different button combinations).

1.  Download  this recovery file - HTCa310eRecovery.zip
2.  Extract all the files to any place on your PC like E:/explorer
3.  Run the recovery.bat with phone in fastboot mode (first option in the "3 android menu" ) and connected with USB.

If you have done all this correctly then you have successfully installed the recovery files.You can now install any compatible .zip ROM or app.
  • Lets Root It
 1. Download this file- Superuser
 2. Next place this file in your micro-SD card- any location (doesn't matter)
 3. Go into Recovery Mode -  ( " Volume Down"+"Power" )
 4. install Superuser zip file with the option "install .zip from SD" from the recovery menu.

There you go- Your HTC Explorer Is rooted and is all yours....


Recommended: Install "Link2sd" for moving your apps to SD card. This will help you to move apps to partitioned SD card

Root Guide For HTC Explorer:-

1. Download HTC Sync from : www.htc.com/www/help/htc-explorer/#download
2. Browse to www.htcdev.com/bootloader to unlock your phone’s Bootloader. Choose “All other supported models” when you select the device in the given link
3. Download this file and extract on your PC. Now, turn on your Explorer holding the Volume Down and Power Button. Choose Fastboot mode and keep your device connected with USB.
4. Download this file  and copy it to your MicroSD.(First Level not in any folder)
5. Next, go to Recovery Mode using (“Volume Down” + “Power”)this will open bootloader,wait for 5 seconds and using volume keys highlight Recovery Select it by pressing power key. 
6.Install the downloaded file in Step 4 choosing the option “Install Zip from SD card” from Recovery Menu.
Now you have got rooted HTC Explorer With you so enjoy custom Roms by following instructions below.

Before, you proceed, there is something that you should know. The internet-pass-through HTC sync won't work on your phone but thats fine after all its ICS

Now, make sure the following are done:
  • HTC Explorer USB drivers installed on your PC
  • USB Debugging mode enabled
  • At least, 90% charged
  • Factory Unlocked
  • Backup important Data
