2015 Honda Fit during its North American introduction in Detroit this past January - $16,488 to start with the unfortunately short ratioed 6-speed MT, mats, D&H. 29/37/32 mpgUS city/highway/combined with the same. When equipped with the much wider and taller ratioed CVT, add $800 and a 33/41/36 mpgUS city/highway/combined result is being touted for the LX with the 15” wheels.

The EX and EX-L trims drop city, highway, and combined by 1, 3, and 1 mpg respectively as they arrive with the 16” alloys.

The third generation 2015 Honda Fit is the most versatile B-segment in the world due to its mysteriously large interior volume of 95.7 cu. ft., excellent 16.6 cu. ft. of cargo volume with the 60/40 split seats upright, and magic rear and front passenger seats that provide a large number of seating configurations including Utility, Long, Tall, and even one called refresh mode. In other words, this is really a C-segment interior in a B-segment exterior with as much room and even more configuration utility than any compact crossover on the market today. When you consider the up-front cost, low cost to own, and low total cost of ownership over the life of the Fit, you would be making a mistake by taking it off you’re A-list.

2015 Honda Fit Rear Cargo Area

Absolutely flat load floor - 40” wide by 28” deep with the rear seats up.

The all-new 2015 Fit has a longer wheelbase yet is shorter overall than its predecessor. It is also more rigid and lighter while providing a better ride and steering feel.

An all new frame structure, including Honda's next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) front body structure should help it improve tremendously over the very Poor rating the 2013 received in the IIHS’ small overlap crash test. The new Fit’s result remains to be seen.

2015 Honda Fit Exterior

This Fit simply looks more modern thanks in part to slimmer wraparound headlamp lenses, a blacked out lower intake and a steeper windscreen rake. A pronounced character line running through the body colored door handles and sculpted lower sill cutout adds flair. Out back the color-matched spoiler not only looks sporty but actually helps improve aero. The EX and EX-L alloys look sharp too although the highway hit is excessive when so equipped.

It is a standout from the outside too.

2015 Honda Fit Interior

Inside, the increased interior room not only feels larger, it is far more refined with soft-touch materials on the upper reaches of the dash. Silver accents around the lower portion of the wheel, dash vents, through the front and rear door panels, and just above the glovebox make for a modern and stylish look.

The std. Honda blue backlit instrument dials are multiple information display configurations are more functional than any of its competitors sans the much more expensive Prius c.

All Fit models include auto on-off headlights, LED brake lights, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and a center storage console with armrest.

Smart Entry Push Button Start, a one-touch operated moonroof, 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio with next-generation HondaLink, and heated leather seats are available in the EX and EX-L trims.

2015 Honda Fit Interior

Well crafted and refreshingly good compared to most B-segment offerings.

A bit of a reach to the wheel and to little lower high support for taller drivers (driver only) despite the large interior volume spec.

2015 Fit Drivetrain

The direct-injected 130 hp and 114 lb-ft. of torque 1.5L I4 uses a DOHC head with valve and timing control mated to the all-new 6.2:1 wide ratio CVT are mostly responsible for the large increase in both power, acceleration, and fuel economy.

Higher percentage of highway with some Inner City San Diego routes mixed in during the short lead earlier this year

An even shorter city/suburban mix drive at the MAMA Spring Rally three months back.

2015 Fit Safety

The Fit arrives with Vehicle Stability Assist with traction control, front, side, and side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, and Honda's next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure all standard.

The real breakout feature never before seen in a B-segment before is the availability of Honda’s LaneWatch display on EX and EX-L trims. A multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines and expanded view driver's mirror is standard on the rest.

As soon as I see the IIHS crash test(s) performed, I will update the many Honda Fit detail stories posted here at CleanMPG. It is very un-Honda like not to design for the best scores in the industry and I have no doubt the all-new Fit will earn its grade this time around.

The new U.S.-market Fit is being produced at Honda’s all-new plant in Celaya, Mexico.

Honda July 2014 Sales Overview

Honda posted sales of 123,428 units in July, off an unusual 2.3 percent. Acura sold 12,480 vehicles in July, down 17.6 percent vs. July 2013.

Year-to-date American Honda sales reached 875,344 vehicles, down 1.3 percent from the Jan – Jul period of 2013. Simply not used to seeing this is all.

Honda July 2014 July Sales Highlights

As usual, the Accord was Honda’s best selling model with 35,073 sold and its best July in 5 years, up 11.3 percent from the 31,507 Accords sold in July of 2013.

Following the Accord’s superlative results was the Civic which posted 30,038 vehicles sold, down 7.3 percent vs. July of 2013.

The CR-V posted its best July sales ever with 28,522 vehicles sold, up 4.8 percent compared to the same period a year ago.

The all-new 2015 Fit appears to be gaining traction as its sales results of 5,115 vehicles sold in July was up 1.3 percent from the 5,047 vehicles sold in July 2013. Not sure if dealership inventory has been increasing enough to provide momentum but as the best B-segment vehicle available today, expect to see higher numbers moving forward.
